Wooden Garden Sheds | Wooden Storage Sheds

Keeping your gardening tools and supplies organized is essential and wooden garden sheds will help.
Whether used for potting, storage or a little of both, these buildings allow you to protect and maintain all of your equipment.

Customized wooden storage sheds are best for gardeners.  They can incorporate the work space you need, the shelving and hook systems necessary and open floor space for your machinery.  Lawn mowers, spreaders and trimmers should all be kept out of the weather, along with lawn and garden tools like shovels, rakes, hoes and trimmers.  Allow space for your own collection of implements by designing a shed customized to your needs.

The project can be intimidating.  How do you build and secure a wooden storage shed in an average backyard?  Where does a project like this start?

First look at your available yard space and decide where the shed would fit best.  Keep in mind how large you would like it to be, but understand that space might dictate that as well.  Also consider any local building codes regarding storage sheds.  Some areas require a permit for sheds above a certain size and others have limitations or standards that need to be followed for the construction.  Find out all of this before you begin building.

Decide what type of flooring you would like.  Often wooden garden sheds are built on either a poured concrete pad or a wood deck.  This provides a level surface that won’t shift or weaken the structure of the shed.  Both surfaces also provide an easy way to attach the wood framed walls, resulting in a sturdy building that will last.

You can build wooden storage sheds using a ready-to-build kit or from scratch following a plan.  Often a kit is a quicker, more efficient way to construct the shed, but you may also be limited by the designs available.  Look for one that can be adapted to suit your needs as much as possible.  Make sure the kit comes with all necessary hardware or that it is readily available.
Plans are helpful when building from scratch.  They will guide you through framing the walls and roof, as well as building the door and including windows and other accents.  Take the guess work out of wooden garden sheds by using a well laid out plan.  Look for ways to add your own features in while you’re building, including those shelves, work spaces and other storage systems, as well as the space you need.

Double doors allow wide machinery through easily.  Skylights free up wall space while still providing natural light.  Customize your shed to be exactly what you need and it will be more functional and simple to use.

Stay organized and efficient in the yard and garden with well built, properly designed wooden storage shed.  Your hobbies will be more enjoyable that way.
