Barn Shed Plans – 3 Keys to Building a Barn Shed

In this article I will outline the critical importance of barn shed plans when building a barn shed or a conventional garden or storage shed. Without considering these keys you could run into big trouble.

Key 1 Size

By and large a barn shed will be bigger than your normal storage yard shed or garden shed for your garden tools. This needs to be uppermost in your mind from the start of your project to finish as any mistakes you make will be magnified and have greater consequences.

Key 2 Roof

Generally your shed will need a pitch or ‘A’ roof to ensure fast water run off. Roof construction can be tricky and your calculations about the pitch and angles need to be spot on, not to mention the best types of wood to use. Not to mention the load bearing capacity of your roof..particularly if your climate gives your a lot of snow.

Key 3 Barn doors

The expression about somebody not being able to hit a barn door with a shovel tells you that barn doors tend to be big..for ease of access and storage etc.

For this reason the design of your barn doors needs some planning but you can always purchase the doors rather than make them yourself. You will still save a lot of money in constructing your barn and you can rely on a good set of barn doors provided you measure correctly.

The key to a successful shed construction is planning and a good set of barn shed plans.. Saltbox shed plans can be tricky but they will result in a shed of classical design and tradition that will be the envy of your neighbours.
Step by step instructions, materials lists, illustrations and blueprints would also be a major bonus and a very smart investment considering the joy you will achieve from your finished barn shed.

Clearly any project that is embarked upon without a set of shed plans can turn into a diy disaster..in the long run preparation is the key for a successful project.
