Woodworking Projects For Children
It is important when setting up woodworking projects for children to ensure total safety by following these basic principles-
- Adult supervision is absolutely critical for woodworking with kids
- Use a bench vise or clamps to ensure that the work is held firmly in place for cutting, drilling, sanding etc.(Most accidents with children happen with the non dominant hand so the use of clamps reduce the risk of injury significantly)
- Ensure that when the child is sawing that he/she either uses both hands or has the non dominant hand held behind the back
- Introduce them to new tools gradually and don’t overburden them with information overload.
These sensible precautions mean that you can introduce your child to simple woodworking projects with more confidence and your woodworking projects for children will be genuinely enjoyable, instructional and fun for both parent and child.
