Bicycle Storage Shed-Bicycle Storage Sheds And What To Look For

Keep the garage clear and your wheels protected with a bicycle storage shed
Dedicated to all of the necessary gear that cycling entails, these buildings are specifically designed to be installed in tight spaces and still provide the capacity you need.
When stored along with other lawn equipment, vehicles and overflow from your home, bikes can become easily damaged.  Leaning against the back or side wall of your garage is often the spot a bike ends up, but then bins, boxes and other things can be piled beside it and make access difficult and dents and scratches likely.  Invest in a bicycle storage shed to give your bikes a secure, organized parking space.

They generally have a rectangular floor plan – 6 feet long by 3 feet deep is a common size.  This allows you to fit two or three bikes inside, as well as install shelves and cabinets along the walls for repair supplies, tune up equipment and any other items that you’ll need handy.  You can purchase a larger shed and dedicate it to bike storage, but the placement may be more limited and you will be tempted to pile other things inside it, resulting in the same likelihood for damage as the garage.

Bicycle Storage Sheds

Bicycle storage sheds come in a variety of materials.  Wood is a common, reasonably priced siding option and will offer good weather protection.  Some cyclists prefer a heavier, more secure wall construction and opt for steel or thick vinyl with locking doors.  Since your bikes are a financial investment and may be a necessity for physical fitness and transportation, it makes sense to have them in a safe building that will deter theft.

Make sure that the roof is high enough for you to comfortably pull the bikes in and out.  A gabled roof will offer more height than a sloped roof.  An outdoor bicycle storage shed will be designed with wide, double doors for clearance and may not include any windows.  Look for models that include a tough, hard wearing floor that is splinter free and can handle the weight and shape of your bike.
Some bicycle storage shed models can be attached or mounted to the exterior wall of your garage or house.  Placing them close to the driveway will give you easy access and encourage you to use the bikes and the bike shed more often.  Purchase one with solid construction that will withstand wind, snow and rain, offering your bicycles year round protection.

Dedicated storage for your two-wheeled vehicles will ensure they last longer and are more convenient to use.  The space cleared up in the garage is an added bonus.
